I had possibly the nerdiest day of my life today, as I intermittently played with the Pocket CHIP and played D&D this evening. There's still a ton that isn't working how I'd like, and part of my confusion is trying to differentiate between... things that don't work, things that I just don't understand and things where they effectively will not work for me because they require a much higher level of understanding.
However - I'm lying in bed, tapping this out in Nano, about to post from the command line. That was at least part of what I wanted this to do and I got it working day 1. Nowhere to go but up!
